We’re hiring! The Grooming Project is eager to add an Employment Specialist to our team. This position will assist our students nearing graduation with one-on-one job placement, work with our graduates as they transition to their new jobs, and build strong relationships with our employment partners. The Grooming Project trains impoverished parents in the art of dog grooming. We have 100% job placement within 30 days of graduation. The Employment Specialist will form and maintain partnerships with grooming employers and help the graduate to obtain and retain employment.

The Employment Specialist will perform some or all of the following duties:

  1. Teaches students how to write their resume
  2. Practices mock interviews with students
  3. Assists in job placement in coordination with grooming instructors
  4. Builds and maintains employment partners
  5. Checks in weekly (or biweekly) with recent graduates/higher need graduates
  6. Checks in monthly with more stable graduates
  7. Assists team with Graduate case management
    1. Assists with housing/transitional living
    2. Assists with childcare needs
    3. Assists with Medicaid and food stamp enrollment
    4. Motivates students through difficult life changes
  8. Checks in with all employers quarterly
  9. Meets face-to-face with all employment partners annually
  10. Conducts informational sessions with prospective employers
  11. Maintains database on employers and clients
  12. Identify barriers that may prevent client from obtaining or retaining employment
  13. Collaborates with Director of Student Services to teach work readiness classes for students
  14. Organizes Alumni group meetings
  15. Contributes to running inventory of resources available for our clients
  16. Excellent case notes on clients
