The Need for a Living Wage

The Need for a Living Wage

A family-friendly job for parents is the key to a better future for children.

Lack of child care. Limited education. Unreliable transportation. Criminal records. Past addiction, abuse and low self-esteem. These are just some of the obstacles to employment our students face.

In Missouri, when single parents earn $10 per hour in a full-time position, they lose most government support and childcare benefits, making the job unfeasible.

Securing and keeping a living-wage job that leads to self-sufficiency is at the heart of a parent being able to remove themselves and their children from the poverty cycle.

We train single parents in a high-paying, in-demand trade that can lift families out of poverty.
