The Need for a Living Wage

The Need for a Living Wage

A family-friendly job for the parent is the key to a better future for the children.

Lack of child care. Limited education. Unreliable transportation. Criminal records. Past addiction, abuse and low self-esteem. These are just some of the obstacles to employment our students face.

In Missouri, when single parents earn $10 per hour in a full-time position, they lose public support networks and childcare benefits, making it unfeasible for them to keep low wage jobs.

Securing and keeping a good-paying job that allows them to support themselves and their families is at the heart of their being able to raise themselves and their children out of the cycle of poverty.

We train single moms for jobs that lift families out of poverty.
